Rossignol has been going for over 100 years. It was started by Abel Rossignol in 1907. A craftsman and wood turner in Voirin near Grenoble who decided to make his own skis. After first prize in the Touring Club of France contest he set up the 'ski and sled' division of his turnery.
In 1956 under the management of Laurent Bois-Vives the company started to fucus purely on ski production. In 1967 the company took over Skis Dynastar S. A. (Haute Savoie)
Along with the success of winning 7 medals ou of 18 awarded in the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, Rossignol went on to sell over a million pairs of skis between 1976 & 1977.
1995 saw Rossignol group take one of the first interests for a ski manufacturer in the snowboard market. By 1998 they participated in the Olympic inaugural snowboarding events.
In 2005 the Rossignol Group merged with Quiksilver.
