Eurostar News - Tickets go on Sale for Ski Season
14/07/2010 13:34:45
Eurostar has started taking bookings for its daytime train service to the Alps for the forthcoming ski season. The train takes skiers directly from St Pancras, London to the heart of the Alpes. The tickets have gone on sale for as little as £149 return and are expected to sell out quickly.

| Eurostar's service is popular for a number of very good reasons. For one thing, the train has a remarkably small carbon footprint compared to that of airplanes. In fact, research shows that the Eurostar journey to Bourg-st-Maurice in the Alps generates only 10% of the emissions that a flight from London to Geneva does.
Convenient way to travel to the Alps It's a relatively green form of transport, but it's a pretty convenient one too. You can take more luggage with you and there are no long, tedious waits in departure lounges or baggage reclaims. St Pancras is a great place to start the journey, and rolling into your destination (be it Bourg-St-Maurice, Aime La Plagne or Moutiers) having glided up the valley is wonderfully exciting.
Winter Sports Travel without the Stress Eurostar's Director of Communication, Mary Walsh, explained why she thinks that taking the Eurostar is such a popular way of traveling to the Alps. “Eurostar offers the perfect solution for winter sports enthusiasts looking to avoid the stress of travelling by air whilst minimising their environmental impact.
Travel to Swiss Ski Resorts by Train As well as our popular French ski destinations, tickets for resorts in Switzerland will be available later in the year thanks to onward connections in Paris. More and more of our passengers are discovering the ease and convenience of onward travel thanks to Europe’s high speed rail network.”
Ski Destinations by Train The standard snowtrain departs from St Pancreas and stops at three stations in the Alpes. The Eurostar destinations are:
Bourg St Maurice (from which, the following are easily accessed..) Les Arcs La Rosiere Tignes Val D'Isere
Aime La Plagne La Plagne
Moutiers Courchevel Meribel Val Thorens Les Menuires
Bookings can be made online at eurostar.com or by calling 08432 186 186.
