With the first day of the winter season starting 20th June it looks like recent snowfalls and with more on the way The Remarkables in the South Island of NZ is in for a great opening.
NZski.com website reports Ross Lawrence, the ski Area Manager as saying
“We’re excited to announce that our main terrain parks, the Dirty Dog Terrain Park and Tararua Iced Coffee Beginner Park, will be open from Saturday as a result of great pre-season conditions,” said Mr Lawrence. “Our terrain park crew have been having some fun over the last couple of weeks completing the set up of the parks at The Remarks.”
“We’re pretty stoked to be able to open Shadow Basin on day one with plenty of snow, and also the Homeward Run and shuttle service,” he said.
The Remarkables skifield named after the mountain range it sits in rises above Lake Wakatipu in the district of Otago. The highest point is Double Cone at 2340m. The skifield has three mountain bowls covering 540 acres.
The Remarkables is a 45 minute drive from Queenstown the town known for a host of adventure filled activities both summer and winter. Bungy jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, skydiving, canyon swinging and then snowboarding & skiing. For winter sports enthusiasts along with the Remarkables skiers and boarders can also head to nearby Coronet Peak and Cardrona ski fields.
