Arinsal Arinsal is a small resort in the Pyrenees. The resort has a reputation of being dominated by the British looking for a cheaper alternative to the Alpes. The good nightlife is a big draw for many of these tourists as are the gentle slopes. Perfect for beginners, but a bit limited for experts with high expectations. Arinsal is high enough that snow is not too much of a problem normally, although the snow in Andorra can vary a lot from year to year.
The upgraded lifts are a definite improvement to mountain access. Arinsal is a long narrow village undergoing redevelopment, and doesn't really possess any resort charm what-so-ever. For the most fun, stay in the middle of town so you are close to where everything is happening; you don't want to have to trek to the gondola in your boots. Many tourists have commented on the friendliness of the locals.

Arinsal HotelsWhere should I stay in Arinsal?Try and stay near the centre of town to be amongst the action. There are lots of good hotels to choose from.
Hotel Poblado (T: 00376 83 51 22) - Excellent reviews for its central location, cleanliness, quality of staff and room size. Hotel Solana (T: 00376 73 79 99) - Not rated particularly highly due to cleanliness and room quality. Despite this, location is good and it is still popular for those on a budget.
SKI HOLIDAYS ARINSALThere are plenty of package holidays to Andorra, with many leading tour operators selling holidays in Arinsal. |

Ski Arinsal
Arinsal has an open eastern bowl whereas Pal has the mostly densely wooded slopes in Andorra. Snowfall is good due to its location and with the links to Pal (Vallnoid area) there is 89km of pistes and the piste grooming is very good.
Experts - Not our first choice but there is some good off-piste and there are a few black runs to keep advanced skiers entertained for a while. With the right snow conditions there is plenty of fun to be had.
Intermediates - Pop over to Pal and have fun on the blues and, for confident intermediates, the reds. Beginners - A very popular place for beginners with lots of great runs to learn on.
Cross Country - No cross country is available in the resort.
Snowboarders - The snow park in Arinsal is very good with something for everybody. There are kickers, a spine, fun boxes, rails, quarter pipe and a super pipe. The drag lifts which remain are an irritation, especially when used to the efficiency and ease of the Alpes.
Here's a good YouTube video of Arinsal, gives you a good idea of the terrain fro the Les Fonts Chairlift

Lovely resort with lots of snow.
By Paul Green on 27/01/2009 12:51:31
Hadn’t been skiing in Andorra before and always intrigued about skiing in a new country…the skiing was great for the beginners and intermediates in our group and Andorra certainly proved to be value for money. Most people there spoke English which was a bonus. The ski runs were well groomed, wide and with many of them being tree-lined which usually makes for pretty spectacular scenery.
