Ski DientenDienten is a great family resort, you can easily go around on foot so once you've arrived there's no need for a car. Its location in the midst of the “Hochkönig Winter Kingdom” ski area guarantees boundless skiing fun on 37 lifts and 150 km of superbly groomed slopes.
 The resort is rather renowned for it's excellent hiking trails. And if you speak with the locals they may tell you about the different tales associated with these trails or you will pick up the stories which show up in various places on information boards. Here's an example from the Hochkonig Tourist Office website...
" Such as the legend of the “Ghost Horse of Dienten”, when a headless horse provoked fear and terror amongst a cheerful group of young people during their hike up towards the Sommereralm. You will also hear tell of the legend of the “Übergossene Alm", when a community of dairymaids were punished for their wanton deeds by being buried forever beneath a thunderous avalanche of ice and snow."

Dienten AccommodationWhere should you stay in Dienten?  We'd recommend booking accommodation direct. There are not many UK Tour Operators offering accommodation in Dienten. Dienten SkiHochkonig Ski
 The Hochkonig ski area (meaning 'High King') is dominated by the impressive 3000m peak that towers above the alpine villages of Maria Alm, Hinterthal, Dienten and Mühlbach creating the huge 150km Hochkönig ski area.
The area is a hidden gem and little known to the Brits who tend to ski in other popular resorts like St Anton. 36 ski lifts and an amazing 37 mountain restaurants, (St Anton 3*, 2*, Zell am See 3*,2*, Mayrhofen 3*,1*).

Cross Country Skiing in Dienten
There are 33km of Nordic Sports trails in maria Alm. If you look at the Saalach Valley in total there is a vast network of over 150km of trails. There are an additional 30km in Bishchofshohen, Muhlbach and Dienten, including the High Trail at the Arthurhaus and the Hochkonig Trail.
