KaprunKaprun Resort
A lovely village nearby to Zell am See; a bus will link you to the resort from Kaprun allowing you to go off and explore the nearby ski and snowboard resort and what it has to offer. Alongside Zell am See; Kaprun makes up part of the Europa Sport region with over 130km of pistes to ski and snowboard; with over 50 of them being local.
Kaprun is a year round resort allowing you to enjoy the summer pursuits that Austria has to offer including golf, hiking, walking, climbing and more. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is beautiful as well as allowing you to go off and explore this picturesque mountain both in the winter and the summer.
Kaprun is a traditional Austrian village with many great restaurants and bars on offer as well as shops selling the local trinkets that are typical of Austrian ski resorts. The nightlife in Kaprun is quiter than the nearby Zell am See; however, the nightlife on offer is still great fun and with clubs, bars and restaurants to choose from for the apes ski! Should you wish to venture over to nearby Zell am See then you will need to take a bus; for more varied terrain, skiing and snowboarding we would advise travelling further afield to Saalbach and other nearby ski resorts.

Kaprun Restaurants
There are a number of good restaurants in Kaprun to suit all tastes; we like Hilberger's Beisl and the Dorfstadl. Serving traditional Austrian fayre; you can be sure of a great meal with good service and delicious food. Take Two is very popular with all who visit this great ski resort; with home cooked style delicious food and more reminiscent of a run down pub, customers come and go in skiwear simply enjoying a good meal with friends and family. The emphasis here is on good food and atmosphere rather than sumptuous surroundings!

We flew to Salzburg and then caught the train and bus but we might have been better to hire a car and flown to Munich. Why? Well it would have allowed us to go more quickly to Saalbach which is important if you are only there for a few days. Small gripe and to be fair the lift system has improved a lot recently but again would be better if it linked to the Piesendorf area and Saalbach itself.
The snow was brilliant (it is higher than Zell) with lots dropping when we were there which made for excellent skiing especially on the Kitzstein glacier.
Thank you Snowbrainer for putting us in the local ski set shop with your discounts and their drinks! Well done we will use you again next year.
PS Kaprun is not a party town but does have a few decent bars with friendly staff - so worth checking those out!

Went snowboarding in Kaprun for 4 days – had a blast. Great snowboards too – thanks Snowbrainer! The snow was great as was the Hotel Sonnblick for food! The pistes were well groomed and it was quite a bit cheaper than France. Want to come back again later on in the season!

We went over Xmas and did Zell and Kaprun for 5 days having flown via Munich. We found the conditions better for snowboarding in Kaprun (higher) than Zell. Snowboard rental taken with your shop
Treffpunkt Europsport who were both helpful and knowledeable. First rate service.
