Skiing in Flims
Flims is often also known as Laax; and these resorts are frequently marketed together now. Flims is now made up of Flims Dorf, Flims Waldhaus where you will find some fantastic hotels and also Laax and Laax Dorf.
Flims is by most measures a major resort and is part of the Alpenarena ski region. It tends to be sunny and is divided up into two parts.Flims Dorff is the main village and spread out along the busy road, Flims Walhaus is the part where good hotels are located and is set in a wooded hillside but has no direct lift to the mountains. The resort shuttle buses are included in the ski lift pass but can be infrequent. However a lot of the hotels do run courtesy buses. Known as being a bit of a Snowboarding destination with its three half pipes with walls of over 6.7 metres, you'll find the place attracts some of the big international riding events. Laax is found two kilometres down the road and a further base at Felera is rustic with a hotel and a number of apartments. It also has a main lift to the ski field which is extensive and one of Switzerland's largest.

Nightlife and Apres Ski in Flims
For a taste of the Apres Ski check out; although to the later part of the evening the ski resort of Flims can get pretty quiet. The Riders Palace pumps out beats to the early hours if you fancy getting your groove on.
Snowboarders will probably want to head to Crap Bar, No Name Cafe & Granit Bar
In Waldhaus
Try the Flem Massiv Bar There is a nightclub but fairly quiet to be honest. Another good bar for apres ski is Iglu and the Stenna Bar for a younger crowd

Top Family Activities in Flims
If you and the family fancy a break from skiing and snowboarding then we would advise heading to the sports centre; complete with swimming pools and an ice rink. Generally Flims is great for families; there is an impressive children's area as well as 'Wonderlands' at all three bases. The childcare and kids' ski classes were all highly rated at this resort. |
